Hanif Rahbari

 

I am an assistant professor of Computing & Information Sciences, and an affiliated faculty of the ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute, the Department of Computer Engineering (College of Engineering), The Artificial Intelligence Master's Program, and the Electrical & Computer Engineering PhD Program at RIT. I received the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering (ECE) from the University of Arizona (UA) in 2016 under supervision of Professor Marwan Krunz in WiCON lab. I joined RIT in Spring 2018 after a short-term affiliation with UA as a Senior Research Specialist and a brief experience as a postdoctoral associate at Virginia Tech under Professor Jerry Park. I also hold a B.Sc. degree in information technology engineering and an M.Sc. degree in computer networks from Sharif University of Technology and AmirKabir University of Technology (Iran), respectively. I am a co-inventor on three US patents and lead the Wireless and IoT Security and Privacy (WISP) lab @ RIT.

Research Area— Wireless Security/​Communications

My PhD dissertation was a blend of theoretical and experimental research on transmission fingerprints obfuscation in wireless communications. Our research findings over the past 10 years have been published in various journals and conferences, including IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE TMC, NDSS, IEEE TWC, IEEE TIFS, ACM WiSec, IEEE JSAC, IEEE CNS, and IEEE Communications Magazine as well as three granted US patents [see Publications].
